沼气是一种混合气体，主要成分是甲烷（CH₄）和二氧化碳（CO₂）。甲烷占 40% ～ 70%，二氧化碳占 30% ～ 40%，还有少量氢气、一氧化碳、硫化氢、氧气和氮气等气体。由于含有可燃气体甲烷，故沼气可用来发电。沼气是细菌在厌氧条件下分解有机物的一种产物。城市有机垃圾、污水处理厂的污泥、养殖业的畜牧粪便、作物秸秆等，皆可做产生沼气的原料。

Biogas is a mixture gas, main composition is methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide. Methane covers 40% ～ 70%, carbon dioxide covers 30% ～ 40% and also a bit of other gas like hydrogen, carbon monoxide, hydrothion sulfide oxygen, nitrogen,etc. Because there are abundant of methane, the biogas can be used to generate electritity power. Biogas is a kind of product that organics is resolved by bacterium under the anaerobic condition. Garbage in the city, sludge in the sewage treatment plants, livestock excreta from farm and straws all can be used to produce biogas.

机组对沼气的要求(在距离燃气机组燃气进气阀1m内)
Ø  沼气温度≤40℃；
Ø  沼气压力3～20kpa，压力变化率1kpa/min；
Ø  H₂S≤200mg/Nm³；
Ø  NH₃≤20mg/Nm³；
Ø  沼气中CH₄含量≥40% ，变化率≤2%/min
Ø  杂质粒度≤5μm，杂质含量30mg/Nm³；
Ø  沼气中水分含量≤40g/Nm³。 
适应气体：垃圾填埋，牧粪便，工业有机物等各种有机物等产生的沼气。
